🏥 How to Apply for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) 🏥
🌏💖Hey there, BRIGHT STARS! 🎓 Preparing for your EXCITING educational journey in Australia? One IMPORTANT step is ensuring you have your
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) SORTED. Whether you’re applying from your home country or you’re already in Australia, we’ve got you covered (literally)! Here’s a friendly guide to help you NAIGATE through the PROCESS.
🚀 Applying from Outside Australia 🚀
1. Pick Your Provider
🌍🛬 Before you land in Australia, you’ll NEED to SELECT an OSHC provider. There are several providers approved by the AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT. Check out their plans and COMPARE what SUITS YOUR NEEDS AND BUDGET BEST.
‍
2. University Enrolment
Often, your university will offer to arrange OSHC for YOU. This can be SUPER CONVENIENT as it’s one less thing to worry about! If you prefer to arrange it yourself,
that’s COOL too—just let your university know.
3. Online Application
🏫📝 Once you’ve picked your provider, head over to their website. They usually have a STRAIGHTFORWARD online application process. You’ll need your PASSPORT details and PROPOSED STUDY DATE. Fill in the FORM, cross your T’s, dot your I’s, and submit!
4. Payment
🖥️✔️ You’ll need to pay for your OSHC BEFORE coming to Australia. This can typically be done ONLINE via CREDIT CARD or INTERNATIONAL BANK TRANSFER. 💳💰
5. Confirmation
‍
After payment, you’ll receive a POLICY NUMBER and a CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE. Make sure to PRINT these out as you’ll need to PRESENT them as part of your visa application.

🏠If you’ve moved to Australia and need to arrange or SWITCH your OSHC, start by reviewing your current health cover STATUS. This ensures you’re NOT PAYING FOR TWO POLICIES at once.
1. Choose and Apply
‍Select a provider that FITS YOUR NEEDS. You CAN change providers if you find one with a BETTER OFFER or if your circumstances change. Just apply through their website as described above.
2. Switching Provider
🔄🖥️ If you’re switching providers, ensure there’s NO GAP in your coverage. Coordinate the END DATE of your CURRENT policy with the START DATE of the NEW one to maintain continuous cover.
3. Update Your VISA Details
Remember to UPDATE your VISA INFORMATION with your NEW POLICY DETAILS. This can usually be done through your online immigration ACCOUNT.
📧📊Tips for Smooth Sailing
1. Keep Your Details Updated
‍
Changes in address, visa status, or personal details should be PROMPTLY updated on your OSHC account.
2. Know What's Covered
Familiarize yourself with what your OSHC covers and what it doesn’t. This can SAVE YOU A LOT OF HEADACHES if you ever need medical assistance.
3. Customer Support
‍
Never hesitate to contact your provider’s CUSTOMER SUPPORT if you have any doubts or need assistance. They’re there to help! 📞💬Embarking on your academic adventure in Australia is SUPER exciting, and having your health covered is a part of making your experience as smooth and WORRY FREE as possible.
